How To Find Motivation To Start Working Out

Hi friends! Today I am happy to announce I am collaborating with the lovely Simone, and sharing a two-part series on all things workout motivation! So make sure to check out her post after reading this one, to read tips on keeping up with your workout routine!

By all means, I am no fitness expert, but I do have a few tips that helped me get back into shape and wanted to share them with you! Like I said in this post I recently started Kayla Itsine’s BBG program and have found a few tips on how I found the motivation to start working out again.

Create a fun workout playlist

Set a goal for yourself

This has always been the best thing for me to get my butt into the gym. Even if it is just a small goal, like going to the gym three times a day it is still something to set for yourself! Then once you reach that goal give yourself something small to celebrate (like new workout leggings!)

Buy new athletic wear

When I started BBG the very first time I went to Target and got myself new leggings after finishing the very first week. It was both an incentive to keep going, and of course a little treat for yourself.

Write it down in your planner

If I write it down in my planner I basically have to stick to it. Writing something down, or even telling a friend makes you really want to keep up with your workout.

Put it into your routine

I try to make a conscious effort to work out every single morning right after I walk Quinn. After awhile it has just become a habit, and now is part of my morning routine. In the beginning, I would look at my week and figure out what time, or after what activity I had time to workout. Going into my day I would already have planned when I was going to the gym so it wasn’t easy to skip.

I hope these tips helped you, and as always comment below on tips that have helped you!

When I did work out, a playlist was absolutely necessary! It just makes things more fun (basically anything Kanye West for me). I’ve also had my eyes set on some pieces from Beyonce’s athletic line, Ivy Park, so maybe when I get my hands on those I’ll feel more motivated to work out again haha.

It’s funny because I used to only be able to workout/ run with complete silence, like as in no playlist and now I HAVE to be jamming out. HA! But ooh girl you should totally invest in some, it’s all so cute!
      Thanks for reading Kathlyn!

Hi Jamie, what a great list of tips! I love having a workout buddy – either my sisters or another friend to keep each other on track and accountable for our individual goals!

I love buying new sports bra and workout pants after I reach a fitness goal! Also, the shirt is super cute! It’s not from Target is it?

I definitely find that writing it down and buying myself little treats keeps me motivated. But after keeping up with a work out regime for a while I find that the biggest motivator of all is knowing how good I’ll feel afterwards. Great post!
