5 Tips For A Better Night Sleep

We’ve all had those annoying sleepless nights where no matter what you do, you are just WIDE awake, and nothing will fix that. It’s so frustrating to feel so exhausted but somehow your body is not understanding that. I have always been one that struggles with getting enough sleep. No matter what time I went to sleep my body will wake me up before 7 am (so not fun on weekends) If you are that person who can sleep through a tornado, and sleep until 1 pm I am very jealous. Except there are a few perks to being a morning person

But I am with you, and want to share a few ways that you can get a better night sleep and conquer the week ahead of you!

5 Tips For A Better Night Sleep | The Blonder Life

5 Tips For A Better Night Sleep | The Blonder Life

Today I’m partnering with Derma E to give you 5 ways to get a better nights sleep

Unplug

Turn off your tv, laptop and most importantly cell phone while you’re trying to fall asleep! The blue light from the screen makes it harder to fall asleep and will harm your eyes in the long run. The new “night-mode” that iPhone’s now have is a perfect fix! If you’re one of those people how have to scroll through all social media’s right before you go to sleep try this! The screen changes to a warmer tone, and will ease your eyes. This is something I have automatically set up for my phone! Also, if you have an iPhone start using your “night mode”- it will stop your phone screen from showing notifications so your screen stays dark all night long. Then simply turn it off once you wake up for the day.

Make a routine

Well, it’s no surprise that I am a “creature of habit”. And even less of a surprise that I love having a routine, and having most of my week planned out. What can I say, I’m a little bit crazy about things being organized. I try to make a routine for myself every night. Creating a sleep routine will start training your body for when it is time to go to sleep, and help you get a better night sleep. Try to enact this routine the same time frame each night. On the weekends try not to stay up till all hours of the night if you know Monday- Friday you will want to be asleep by 10 PM. It will be much harder for you to fall asleep, and you will end up feeling groggy and uneasy!

Stay fresh

My skincare routine is a big part of how I get ready for bed. I love to go to sleep feeling clean and refreshed. Lately, I have been using Derma E’s night cream (get it here). Having extremely dry and sensitive skin I always struggle to find the right product to hydrate my skin overnight. This one is amazing! When I wake up in the morning my skin is so smooth and clean. Derma E reached out to me to tell you guys about their new packaging that will launch this month. It is so clean and simple, and I definitly like the more white and glassy look.

Hot tea

Currently trying desperately to be a tea person because my caffeine addiction is just out of control. Something about a hot drink before bed is just so soothing, it might all be in my head but hey if it works I’m sticking to it. Next time you’re at the grocery store stroll through the tea aisle and find a tea you think you would enjoy- make sure it’s caffeine free! I always have this one and this one in my pantry.

Get cozy

This one is a no-brainer but I wanted to include it anyway. Make sure you keep your bedroom a calming, comfortable place! Before I go to sleep I like to clean up my room a little bit, otherwise, my mind will race about how I need to pick it up in the morning. Try not to do anything stressful in your room (ie. work, or homework) because then your mind and body will associate your bed as some other place than a place of relaxation. Stick to coming into your room for calming activities!

Thanks to Derma E for sending me their products, and sponsoring this post. All opinions are always my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that make The Blonder Life possible.

Great tips! Unplugging can be hard. I also use a sleep mask, which helps to block out any extra light, no matter how dim.

Great tips! It is hard to unplug, but it does make for a better sleep. I also use an eye mask. Blocking out any extra light, no matter how small or dim, helps me fall asleep faster, even if I wake up in the middle of the night.

As a nurse, I’ve either read about or passed on ALMOST all of these tips, except for “staying fresh”. It is definitely not something I implement enough in my life, but after reading about how beneficial it is to wake up and feel fresh the next day, I’ll have to do a better job!

I read a few articles while writing this about screens before bed, or even just associating them with your bed. It’s crazy!

Great tips! I especially love the “get cozy” one. I like to light my mint/eucalyptus candle and read for a bit before going to bed. I light my room with white Christmas lights and I feel super calm and cozy.

Christmas lights are my favorite! They make me feel so warm and at home. That scent of candle I NEED to look into, it just already sounds like it would be amazing.

Great points. I like to stretch and release some stress. Get away from electronics to calm your brain. And hey I also like the way you threw those products in there but still offered value (smart attraction marketer!).

I used to go to sleep at all different times throughout the week and would wonder why my body was never tired when I wanted it to be. Switching over to a night time routine has helped me so so much in the long run!
