Hey, guys! Amanda here! Not to worry, Jamie will be back soon ;). Thanks so much for stopping by. I am here to talk to you about the importance of branding your blog and how graphic design plays a pretty big part in the process.
If you aren’t familiar with me, my name is Amanda Strong and I am the author of the fashion and lifestyle blog, Poised Avenue, and graphic designer and brand developer over at Mandy Lee Designs. Ever since starting Poised Avenue, I have fallen in love with the art of brand development and logo design. Early on, I discovered the importance of being consistent as a blogger to build a cohesive and recognizable brand. Read more…
Welcome back to another Tuesday blogging tips post! I have not come up with a series name just yet, so if you have any ideas I would love to hear them in the comment section!
Every Tuesday I will be sharing a blog post giving my tips on one specific blogging question! I pick these questions from tweets, e-mails and messages from all of you! So, if there’s anything you ever want to be covered I would love to hear your opinions!
Friends, today is the BIG day! I have been working on this “secret” project for what seems like years. It’s basically been on the back burner for quite some time… I got the idea for it about 6 months ago but never really knew what to do with the idea, or how to make it come to life. For the longest time, it was just a simple note on my phone filed away as a long-term goal.
My best brainstorming sessions have been happening on my commute to and from work, surprisingly. So I really have Houston traffic to thank for this finally coming together! I briefly shared my big idea with a few people on Instagram Live a few weeks ago and the response I got made me start accelerating the process! There’s really no better introduction than to just dive right into it, so here we go!
Although I lovelovelove producing style and fashion content I also love encouraging other bloggers, and sharing my advice! There’s something so rewarding about teaching others from your own mistakes. Ha. The blogging world can be a bit overwhelming at first, and there’s really no way to know it all! There were so many mistakes I made at the beginning, and I wanted to share those with you all today. I always want to be genuine with you guys, and share the not so glamorous parts of my life.
Last Sunday I celebrated my one-year blogiversary aka I’ve been blogging for a WHOLE YEAR! I hosted a brunch at Sonoma Wine Bar with a few of my friends! I knew I wanted to celebrate somehow, and eventually decided brunch would be the best fit!
The best and most effective way to grow your online business is through social media. It’s a great way to drive traffic to your blog or website and in long term gain paying customers and loyal followers. Everyone can use some help when it comes to growing their social media, and if you’re like most people you are totally lost when it comes to Twitter. As a blogger there’s already so many different platforms that you’re struggling to keep up with, so why add another to the mix? But, I’m here to tell you Twitter can be extremely beneficial for your traffic!
So, the premise as to why I’m writing this post is actually pretty surprising to me! I do not consider myself a super successful blogger by any means, and I am always learning new ways to monetize and how to better my content! There honestly is so much to learn, let me just tell ya. Researching for this post was just a tad bit overwhelming. Try searching “getting paid as a small blogger” on Pinterest… you will get thousands of results!
Hi babes, and happy 2017! Hope everyone had a great New Years Eve, and New Years day!
Not to sound totally nerdy, but I actually spent both days working on the blog. I know, totally nerdy right? But, let me explain why. I am completely determined to make 2017 the year of my blog. The year I figure (mostly) everything out, and start feeling like I know what I’m doing. If you are a blogger you know there is an endless amount of tasks you could be doing to improve your blog. It can get a bit overwhelming.
But also, it is the greatest hobby turned semi-job I have ever had in my life. I love blogging, and getting to share a part of my life with all of yall! So here are both my personal, and blogging goals for the new year!
Blogging Goals for 2017
Consistent branding & sticking with it! I have had my current theme for awhile now, and wanting to upgrade it in 2017! I also really want to create a whole new branding template for Pinterest and try to stay consistent with it!
Increase my Instagram followers to 5K. I totally know I can do this. My Instagram following has been steadily growing since I implemented a few changes.
Stay ahead of content. Creating posts at 10 PM the night before is just not my cup of tea, and I feel like my content comes out less than great when I do this. in 2017 I want to create content at least a week ahead of time, and stay ahead!
More collaborations with other bloggers. Collabs are my favorite things! I love meeting other bloggers, and getting to create content together.
Invest in a new camera. Before I was super invested in blogging I bought a Sony Alpha A500, which was super great for Instagram and snapping pictures on the go! Looking at it now, I really need a DSLR and hope to invest in one within the next couple of months.
Enroll in one blogging course. This is definitely the most important goal I would love to achieve. There are so many on my list, so I can’t wait to actually commit!
YouTube.I only have a few videos up currently, but am working to upload more frequently this year. Leave me any video requests in the comment section! Stay current with my channel here!
Personal Goals for 2017
Continue being vegetarian.
Save more, spend less. This has probably been a goal of mine every year honestly. I try my best, but it never sticks. As I get older I realize how important it is to have a savings! So let’s hope 2017 is the year I’ll get my life into gear.
Run 5 miles without stopping.
Read 1 book a month.
Enroll Quinn in daycare. This might seem so silly as to a goal for myself, but what can I say #crazydogmom. Quinn has really bad separation anxiety from me since it’s basically just been me and her since she was 8 weeks old. This year I want to start bringing her to daycare while I’m at work a few days out of the month to help her be a healthier, and happier pup!
Travel somewhere new.
Take a dance class. Up until middle school dance was my life. I spent more time in a dance studio than I did anywhere else. Yes, I am 23 but I have always missed it and really want to get back into a dance studio. Honestly, I don’t even know if this is a possibility but I am going to look into it!
