DIY At Home Gel Manicure

One of my favorite things to buy is nail-polish! I love finding new colors, and building my already massive collection. Of course, I also enjoy painting my nails. I think nail polish can add a little touch of personality to a look, and show off your style in a fun way. Right now I am living for dark browns, and deep purples for the fall- you absolutely need them!

Painting my nails is a pain in my butt because I am not patient enough to ever let them fully dry. No matter how hard I try to sit there for 20 minutes I just find a hundred other things to do that involve royally messing up my nails. Nothing is more irritating than painting my nails and ten minutes later realizing half of them are smudged. It drives me insane! I know you can relate because #girlprobs

Well, I have basically found a science to getting a perfect gel manicure all from the comfort of your own home. What else could you ever want? This is what I do every single time I paint my nails, and products I have been using for years. So you know that they’re reliable if I’m sticking with them.

Follow these steps to get the perfect DIY at home gel manicure

What you’ll need

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish (I’m loving ‘Midnight Mod’ and ‘Headbang’)

Sally Hansel Miracle Gel Top Coat

Advanced Nail Gel Coat

Getting an at-home gel manicure takes a few extra steps than just normally painting your nails, but the finished product is so worth it!

Achieve the look

  1. Remove any excess polish
  2. Soak your hands in hot water with a few drops of Vitamin E oil, or any other cuticle oil
  3. Trim your nails to preferred length
  4. Paint your nails with two coats of the nail gel coat
  5. Add desired color of miracle gel polish
  6. For an extra long wear add one more coat of nail gel coat
  7. Finish with miracle gel top coat

Now you will have salon looking nails for a fraction of the price! Be sure to tweet me if you end up using all these products and tell me how you like it!

What are your go-to fall nail colors right now?

I’m so excited to do this this weekend with my friends! We just bought Vitamin E oil to treat ourselves haha. I’m just afraid I’m gonna smudge it everywhere; I’m a very fidgety person and can’t stay still for too long.

I just bought my first ever gray nail polish and I love it! I find that watching Netflix or YouTube while painting my nails keeps me sedentary enough not to smudge my nails! Have you tried that before?

That’s so funny you said something because lately I have been watching YouTube while letting them dry and it really helps!

The polish I use is very gentle, and has never done anything to my nails!

I haven’t tried Sally’s gel polishes yet. I love the Essie ones, so I’ll have to give these a try too!
