3 Mascara’s I Have Been Loving

Sharing the 3 mascara's I cannot live without. Mascara routine + my favorite products | The Blonder Life

My favorite beauty product by far has ALWAYS been mascara. Maybe because I have super short and stubby lashes so I’m always waiting to find the perfect mascara to really lengthen them… I am definitely that girl who purchases a mascara after seeing a commercial. Every time I’m like okay this is gonna be the one I love and stick with! I cannot even tell you how much money I have spent on mascara throughout the years. Probably enough to have eyelash extensions for life.

So, I think I can give pretty honest feedback because I have tested out so many, and know what I like in a product.

First I’m going to break down the 3 mascara’s I have been trying over the past few weeks/months. Then, I’ll explain my routine and how I use each product, and in what order!

L’Oreal Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara

So the word collagen instantly sucked me in – so snaps on that L’Oreal marketing. Not to sound dumb, but all I knew about collagen was that it’s something that you find in nice skincare, or want for your hair. I figured heck why not buy it. The actual tube seems really nice, and good quality. I love that it is so simple and all black.

I have never been the girl to use only one mascara and be done. I typically use about 3-4 (excessive maybe?) But, it’s what works best for my stubby lashes! This mascara I found was really great for coating every single lash, and definitely added a ton of volume. It’s also very pigemented, so it makes my lashes really stand out. I would definitely re-purchase this in the future.

L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black

Telescopic is new to the collection! I had seen Dani Austin talk about it on Instagram stories, and so naturally, I wanted to try it out. Then I was visiting a friend and she had it, so I tried hers and bought it the next week. I have been using it for about 3-4 weeks and I really like it.

This mascara is great for a natural look, but also perfect to build! It coats every single lash! It’s really perfect to lengthen your lashes and doesn’t add too much product. The actual wand itself isn’t my favorite, and it’s pretty tiny. But, you’ll realize it really gets the job done!

L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Xfiber

I have had this mascara for about 4 months now, and will definitely be re-purchasing once it runs out. This mascara has two sides with different formulas.

The first side is a really thin wand to get every lash, and the second side has fibers in the formula. I usually don’t love mascara with fibers because they seem to get everywhere and be more of a pain than actually helpful. But, I do enjoy this formula. The fibers aren’t too crazy, but they get the job done!

First off, let me say until writing this post I had no idea I was only using L’Oreal products! Guess their marketing team really knows what they’re doing.

Now let’s get into my mascara routine so I can explain what products I use, and in what order.

  1. First off I always curl my lashes. I use a super old eyelash curler that I got from the drugstore a million years ago. I do sometimes warm up my eyelash curler with a blowdryer. This makes such a difference, and keeps my lashes curled for hours on end! If you try this – do it at your own risk. I’ve never had issues, but just be careful. I only heat it up for a few seconds.
  2. The first mascara I use is the first step of the Superstar Fiber. I put on only a few light coats on each eye, and let it dry for only a few seconds. Then I go in with the other side of this same mascara. I add just a light coat again, because I don’t want too many fibers!
  3. Then I go in with Telescopic Carbon Black. This one I put on a ton of coats and make sure to really get every lash. I focus a lot on the outside lashes to make my eyes look bigger. Make sure you look down when you’re putting on mascara so you’re really able to use the wand to pull up and give you more curl and length. Also, I focus a lot on the very top tips of the lashes to add length as well.
  4. While the first top coats are drying and thickening, I move onto my lower lashes. I go back with the Superstar Fiber since it isn’t too bold and I’m able to add the product to all lashes without making them clump.
  5. After the Superstar Fiber I add a few coats of the Extra Volume Collagen mascara. This one makes your lashes super bold and black, which I love!
  6. Depending on the look I’m going for I will be done here, or go back in with the Extra Volume Collagen and add to my top lashes!

All of these products are great together, and great on their own! I will use only the Telescopic sometimes when I’m going for a more natural summer look.

Let me know if you end up trying any of these, and what mascara is your favorite out of these 3!
