Updated Hair Routine in 2019. What products I'm loving right now + how I manage dirty hair. Healthy and long hair routine. The Blonder Life.

With a new year comes a new hair care routine! I am so excited to share all my tips, and products with you girls, and know this blog post has been very anticipated. It’s been about two years since I posted my hair care routine, and I figured it was about time to update you guys!

If you’re new to the blog, let me give you a little background on my hair type and how I like to go about keeping it super healthy looking!

I have medium to long length hair, and it’s very thick and wavy! Keeping my hair healthy has always been something that I’m very proud of, and over the years I have created a great routine! To be honest, my routine hasn’t changed too much since 2017, but there are a few new products I wanted to introduce to you today!

Washing Routine

First off, let’s talk about washing my hair (or lack thereof) haha! I only wash my hair once a week and have done that for a little over a year now! I typically try to wash my hair on Wednesday or Thursday depending on my plans. The middle of the week is what seems to work for me since I tend to like to style my hair on second or third-day hair (aka the weekend) But figure out a schedule that works for you!

SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

Over the past few years I have made the switch to more environmentally friendly hair products. As I grow up I realize how important it is to treat your hair (and skin) the best you can! I want my hair to be the healthiest it can be for YEARS to come!

Finding a product that has certain sustainably-sourced ingredients, but also actually cleans my hair has been very hard for me to find. Until now! I recently have been using the Nature Box™ 100% Cold Pressed Coconut Oil shampoo and conditioner! I absolutely LOVE both of them! With 100% cold pressed coconut oil it gives your hair instant hydration and moisture!  This has by far been my favorite product because it actually does the job but doesn’t add a ton of buildup to my hair. It leaves my hair feeling super fresh and light after every wash.

Plus, who doesn’t want their hair to smell like coconut every day?

I credit dirty hair to a big reason as to why my hair is the longest and healthiest it’s ever been! Most hair products end up stripping your hair of the natural oils, which you actually want to help grow your hair! When I wash my hair I only use shampoo on my scalp, because as you are rinsing it out it will end up distributing itself throughout your whole head. Then, I only apply conditioner to my ends to avoid any more product build up on my scalp.

I truly love the Nature Box™ conditioner! I’ll be honest I am a bit of conditioner snob, and have gone through SO many different brands. I hate when conditioners leave a filmy feeling on my hair, and it never seems to feel clean. The coconut oil conditioner from Nature Box™ is so fresh and clean!

Styling/ Dry Shampoo

Anytime I talk about only washing my hair once a week, my most asked question is how I go about styling my hair! I will say two things: 1. dry shampoo will be your BFF and 2. get comfortable with wearing your hair up, or in braids!

My hair can look pretty clean and manageable for about the first 4 to 5 days after washing. This has definitely taken time, and I promise “training” your hair to go days in between washes is a thing!

I typically don’t use any heat on my hair during the weekday, and either wear it down natural or throw it up in a ponytail! I also only use dry shampoo after 2 or 3 full days, and apply it at night! That was such a game changer for me. You want to give the product lots of time to work itself throughout your scalp.

Just be patient with your hair, and try to use the best products for whatever hair type you have! I have found that with a combination of this shampoo and conditioner and my favorite dry shampoo I am good to go! I hope this post was helpful for you girls, and gave you more details on what I do to keep my hair healthy and growing long!
