Getting Back Into A Workout Routine

This is one of my absolute favorite looks, and definitely a go-to for me! This girl could not be happier that athleisure is such a huge trend this year! I am all about comfy looks that still make me feel semi-put together. Just because my life is a mess doesn’t mean my outfits have to be, right?  I recently purchased this pair of denim, and let me tell you I am IN LOVE with them! I think I wear them twice a week, if not more. They are extremely soft, and so flattering! They are a bit of a splurge, but when it comes to denim I don’t mind spending a little more because I know they will last me forever! I have a feeling I will end up with every single wash by the end of the year.

Speaking of athleisure I have been making it a point to get back into a workout routine! In college, I started BBG (Bikini Body Guides by Kayla Itsines) with one of my best friends and we were pretty consistent with it and did that workout for a long time! I want to say we made it to like week 10 or 12 (it only goes up to week 12). I saw results, and really felt like I was in a good routine and was feeling great about my health! Then I graduated and my workout routine was nonexistent. I have tried to workout here and there throughout the last years, but nothing has ever really stuck.

Honestly, working out by yourself is tough. It’s so much easier if you have someone doing it with you, so you have someone to hold you accountable!

Yesterday I started BBG again! I have posted about it on Instagram, told a few of my friends AND then doing this blog post to really hold myself accountable this time. I’m hoping I will keep up with it since I’m putting it out there on so many different platforms – haha. What I really love about the BBG workouts are how quick and to the point they are! They usually only take about 20 minutes depending on what week/day which I love! Anyone can make time for that in their busy schedule! They also are pretty simple in terms of the actual workout – don’t be fooled it’s going to kick your butt. But, you don’t have to worry if you’re doing anything wrong.

My TOP 2 TIPS on sticking to a workout routine and really keeping up with BBG:

(1) Set a workout time and stick with it. Even if it changes every week set a time to do your workout and DO IT! Personally, I like working out first thing in the morning to really get my day going. Typically I make coffee first thing in the morning, and sit down and watch an episode on Netflix, or a YouTube video. I still do that as kind of my way to wake up relaxing, and then after the episode is done I make myself get the workout done! That way I still feel like I have my alone time in the morning to relax, but still am starting the day right! (2) My other big tip is to put motivation everywhere! Whether it’s printing out photos, tracking your progress, or even bribing yourself! I am always searching the BBG hashtag on Instagram and seeing other peoples progress! It always gets me really motivated to push myself before every workout! Also, I am planning on treating myself to something once I hit Week 6 (halfway through) Motivation is KEY to keeping your routine so that you don’t hit a wall and get bored.

Have any of you done BBG? How did you like it? And if you have some other tips on keeping up a workout routine I would love to hear from you!

I’m doing BBG right now, too! I’ve been doing it since the end of December and really like it. However, I think that it’s starting to get pretty repetitive so I may try to branch out and find other workouts to do. I tend to work out earlier in the morning and its been working great with me. You got this!!
