Dog Friendly Houston Guide

Houston, Texas dog friendly guide. Dog friendly restaurants, bars and Houston dog parks. Houston city guide. The Blonder Life

One of the main questions I get from you guys on Instagram is my favorite dog friendly places in Houston! I have been to a ton of dog parks, restaurants and bars in the city so I wanted to create this guide for you as a reference!

Everywhere that I’ve been to I added my thoughts, and all the details. I might be a crazy dog mom, but sometimes “dog friendly” places aren’t all that dog friendly, so I wanted to make this as useful for you guys as possible! All the other places that I have found, or know of via friends I added without any information!

Restaurants

Cane Rosso – Their patio is dog-friendly, and the waiters come out to take your order so it’s super easy!

Onion Creek Cafe – I found this restaurant very randomly one day, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. It’s a whole outdoor restaurant/ bar type. They do have indoor seating, but the outdoor is really great for dogs because it is very spacious. The food menu is very bar/American type but SO good! You do have to go inside to order (and dogs aren’t allowed) so keep that in mind. I can’t remember what all I ordered, but everything was so good, and they have yummy frozen drinks!

Drexel House – I have only been here without Quinn, but their outside patio is dog-friendly! More ideal if your dog is chill, and can sit or lay down pretty close to you. All I can say is order the fried Mac n cheese if you ever go because it’s AMAZING.

Bars

Kirby Ice House – My favorite dog friendly bar EVER! Ask anyone, I would go here every weekend if I could. The number 1 reason I love it so much, is because of how spacious it is. There’s nothing worse than going somewhere with your pup and feeling like they have to sit right next to you or they’ll be bothering the table next to you. Kirby has a ton of different sitting areas outside (they have inside too but not open to doggies) and they all are perfect for bringing your dog! Also, they have a separate side entrance to go in with your dog, and have water stations. The outdoor area has its own walk up bar too, so if you don’t want to/ can’t leave your dog alone you can bring them up to order! Also, they have food trucks pretty frequently, and a really big parking lot.

Axelrad – I just went here for the first time last month, and it’s definitely my second favorite now! Love it because it’s the same as Kirby where there’s a lot of space outside. They also have pizza 🙌🏼 They have a ton of different seating options too, and they have the cute swings that I’m sure you’ve seen photos of on Instagram.

Heights Bier Garden – I love this bar a lot too! I will say though ordering with a dog is kind of tough, if you’re going with a friend or someone that you might not be able to leave your dog with. Quinn gets kind of whiny when she sees me walk away, so this might be something I only have to worry about haha. Both bar areas don’t allow dogs into the actual bar, so that’s something to keep in mind. It’s a super cute place though, and they have a TON of beers and yummy cocktails. They also have a small food menu + swings & this is where the Picked Flower Co truck is parked!

McIntres – I have actually only ever been here once and it wasn’t with Quinn oops. But, I do know it’s dog-friendly and that a ton of people love it here!

Dog parks

Danny Jackson – Our favorite dog park! This one we love because of the location, and the setup. It’s really long, and has a dog pool. Also has a separate large and small dog park. Probably my favorite because it’s 10 minutes away from Kirby Ice House, so perfect if you’re wanting to plan a whole doggie date day!

Bill Archer – This dog park is HUGE! I’m talking 20+ acres huge. When you get there it definitely looks big, but you don’t realize just how big until you actually walk in. It just keeps going and going. So if you’re like me, and have a dog that absolutely loves to run this is perfect for them! They have a huge dog pool + agility equipment in the back. Note: if your dog isn’t good at listening or coming back to you I wouldn’t recommend going to this dog park!

Millie Bush – Quinn really loved the pool in this one! It’s perfect if your dog loves to swim, because there’s two separate dog pools and they’re both really big!

T.C Jester – Unless this dog park is just super close to you, I wouldn’t bother. It’s nothing special and isn’t all that big!

Levy Park Dog Park – this dog park is tiny, and doesn’t have any grass as far as I remember. Wouldn’t waste my time here either!

A 20 acre dog park!? I’ve never seen such a place. Whereabouts in Houston is it? Next time I’m in the area I will have to check it out.

Our average dog park size in San Antonio is less than 1.5 acres, and we have at least 15.

    Great pics!

I need to take my girls to these places! I feel bad because since I have two pups now I rarely take them out anymore!

    XOXO, Nikki
